History And Mission of the Hyde Park Youth Basketball Assocication (HPYBA)

Founded by community activist Ray Foley, the Hyde Park Youth Basketball Association (HPYBA) has been serving children and families in the greater Hyde Park area since 1982. The program has grown to include roughly 350 kids each year participating in three divisions. Two instructional leagues, for children ages 6-7 and for children age 8, operate at the Ohrenberger School. The Craig Curran Division for 9-11 year olds plays Saturday games at the Hyde Park Municipal Building gym, while the Ray Foley Division for 12-14 year olds plays at Hyde Park High School. The mission of the Hyde Park Youth Basketball Association is to build a better community using the wonderful sport of basketball as the vehicle for learning about working together, playing fair, and treating others with dignity and respect. We seek to teach our players the fundamentals of the game of basketball, as well as something about teamwork and sportsmanship. We want to ensure that they have fun while experiencing the joys and disappointments of athletic competition. Coaches Conduct.

The Assocication also has standards of conduct for both coaches and spectators. The Assocication expects everyone attending any HPYBA activity to follow these basic Spectator Rules & Conduct .
