Sportsmanship Essay Contest

2005-2006

The HPYBA invites all participants between the ages of 12 and14 to enter the first annual Sportsmanship Essay Contest. To enter, all you need to do is write an essay on the topic:

What sportsmanship means to me.

The first prize contest winner will be awarded free tuition to one week of basketball camp, to be chosen from local camp offerings. Contest rules are simple:

• All essays must be typed using Microsoft Word, and may contain no more than 300 words. Your name and your essay title are not included in the word count.
• You must do your own work. You may discuss the topic with parents, friends, teachers, etc., but the writing must be using your own words.
• Entries must be received by 5:00 PM on February 13, 2006.
• Only electronic entries will be accepted (no paper!). You may submit your essay on a disk or CD at the Hyde Park Municipal Building, or e-mail it as an attachment to: JOM45@aol .com.

A panel comprised of community members and staff from the Northeastern University’s Center for the Study of Sport in Society will judge essays. At the discretion of the HPYBA, all submissions may be displayed on the HPYBA website.
