Rules Updates for
2004-05 Season
The Foley Division will change games from two twenty-minute
halves to four ten-minute quarters. The last three minutes of the final
quarter will be stop time, with full court pressure allowed.
The following clarifications apply to the Curran Division:
1. Playing time – each kid
is supposed to play an equal amount of time.
We break the game into eight segments to make it easier to substitute
and assure equal distribution of minutes.
I am asking our score keeper to track the periods that kids play, to
enforce this rule. The table below
should inform you as to how many periods a kid should play, depending on how
many are available. If player #1 is
your best player, he/she can play 4 periods if all 10 kids show up, 5 if 9 kids
show up, etc.

2. Half-court press – teams
may come out of the zone and press in the half court when they are down by six
or more points, and may continue to press until they catch up. They must initiate the press, however, when
they are down 6 or more, and must continue to apply it in order to preserve the
‘right’ to apply it. If your team is
down 6 but manages to close the gap to less than 6 points without applying the
press, you may not reserve the right to press at a later time.
